A preset can be used in various use cases:
Default preset Each configurator model needs to have a default preset which is the first to load. For instance the default preset doesn’t have any overrides which basically makes it an exact instance of the model. The default preset can also be a overridden value already.
Load preset directly as starting point of a configuration, via a direct URL. A preset can be loaded based on a specific URL which includes the preset code. This makes it possible to load a certain preset from any part of the content. For instance from the homepage or a navigation menu.
Connect a preset to a package so it is the included variant of the configuration in the package Presets can be added to certain package groups allowing them to be selected in a wizard style user interface.
A preset specific for a certain company entity. For instance with a logo or text fixed in it. Via the preset availability personalization action, presets can be made available or unavailable for certain companies.
Concept of overrides
Presets are in fact overrides on a model. Each node in a model can be overridden with a specific value in a preset. After creating a preset, the model tab of the connected model will be available. An exact replica of the model structure will be shown and each node shown can be overridden.
